When women and girls are the last to eat

Hunger, gender inequality and violence are all connected. World Vision to working to protect, support and empower women and girls around the world.

The most vulnerable group of people in the world is made up of women and girls.

70 percent of the world's hungriest people are women and girls.

Gender-based violence, inequality and hunger are all intertwined. When food is available, women and girls eat last and least. Girls often are the first to leave school in order to begin working and contributing to the home.

World Vision prioritizes partnerships with women, teaching and equipping them through women-led farms and small businesses. This, in turn, helps women employ more mothers so they can nourish their own hungry girls and boys.

Empowering women through these programs allows women to provide for themselves and their children. We are working with women in communities all around the world to create sustainable solutions that address food insecurity, gender inequality, and sexual violence.
